Okay, so Saturday I had finished volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital. Man, they sure do treat us well. There’s always some sort of snack waiting for us in the kitchen, and yesterday there were coupons for a free kids meal at IHOP. So I went with a group of friends at 3 and after going the wrong direction for 5 minutes we finally found an IHOP. We sat down at our table and made small talk with our waiter about our volunteerism (we were still wearing our badge and uniform). We showed the waiter our coupons, but he said only kids 12 and under can use it. We were sort of surprised because we all had coupons and were expecting some free food. We were sort of in a pleading tone, so after talking with the manager we were able to eke out on e free meal. We were all low on cash, so we were talking about how we can split around $10 among five people. Then out of the blue this elder senior guy, who was seated right next to our table and apparently overheard everything, finishes his meal and drops a twenty dollar bill on our table, tells us its on him, and begins to leave. All five of us were in a total complete shock. We just stared at that green bill on our table for a couple seconds before we snapped out of it and tried to give the money back. We were like “oh, its ok, we have money, don’t worry about it, we’ll be fine” but the guy refused to take it back, and he told us to “learn to receive a little”. So he left, and we ordered our meal, and gave a big tip for our waiter.

Maybe it’s just the way I’m raised, but I felt weird accepting that guy’s money. Our whole group did. We’re all so used to giving (hey, we’re volunteers) that we don’t know how to receive anything. What happened that day is something that I’ve only read about in Reader’s Digest or something, and I had always thought that I would be the one giving rather than receiving the money if I was ever in that situation. It doesn’t end there. It’s also weird for me to accept compliments. People are like “Justin, good job on doing this-and-that” and all I can do is just deny it or just laugh it off. I’m unsure of how to handle that kind of situation, so I try to downplay it as much as I can.

Okay, yesterday was superbowl Sunday. Church was awesome. Well, it’s great every Sunday, but yesterday, it was especially good.

Pure nard update

Hmmm...first thing's first. Pure Nard Update.

Stuff that goes through my mind while writing pure nard: why do I do it? Is it because I'm selfish? Or is it because I want to enhance those who read it? When it comes to stuff like this, I'm never sure about my motive. I know that I should not write nard-stuff for my own enhancement, that I should just try to keep it real with those who care to know, but then again, do I? So confused...brain hurts. OH well...I digress.

Wow, out from the shadows emerges Jae, the most recent commentor. So, it looks like the list of people who read this grows to...*counts fingers and toes* a whopping 6! That's a good five more than what I expected.

American Idol is the most hilarious show ever. I think all the viewers watch for only the bad singers and couldn't care less about the decent ones. I just don't understand it. I've never heard more tone-deaf, off-beat people in my life. What's more is that they think they're actually star quality. I think there's a chemical imbalance in their head.

Hey, I just got reminded that tomorrow is panoramic picture. *yikes* I hope my hair is ok. Well, maybe quotation marks are more appropriate. "yikes"

UT ap: T minus 9 days.

So, what’s been going on?

The day happenings on Friday – No comment. Let the issue die.

The night happenings on Friday – My discipleship group were “supposed” to discipled, but we decided that part of a discipleship group is male bonding. In other words, we watched the first hal of the Rockets game at the counselor’s house. Fun stuff. OMG we stopped by the most grand most quality burger king ever! If there were one restaurant I want to work at, that would be it. Rockets trump the Lakers 108-104. Yao Ming had six blocks, and they played his song. I think it’s the best game in the world.

Today, I woke up at 5:45, arrived at Texas Children’s Hospital at 6, and then carpooled to volunteer at the TCH kids fun run located at the George R Brown Convention Center. The good part is that they served us breakfast. I ate 4 breakfast burritos and 3 muffins. Very filling. At 8, 4400 kids come piling in from all over houston in buses, and I had to help corral them into the right area. It was like a huge health expo, with kids having to run 1.5 miles before going to the expo part of it. Like the crazy nut that I am, I decided to run with the kids. There were three runs based on grade, and I competed in the eighth grade run. Finished it all in twelve minutes, and I GOT A MEDAL!!! OH YEAH! Well, everyone did, but I huffed and I puffed my way through the streets of downtown, so I earned that medal.

Yao Ming Song rocks.

Church tomorrow ( or today, depending on what time). How about you?

Ok...so I haven't updated in three days. Why, you ask? Well, I really wanted as many people to click on the link in the previous entry. I'm still amazed by how much we agree, and the thought has been in my head for a while now.

Hmm...interesting...apparently China doesn't like my website very much.

To all my readers: if there is one link that you will ever click ever on my website, please click on this one right here. My homeboy Johnny Lin (no relation to me) from Camp Impact totally big time explains almost perfectly word for word my view on dating. It's almost scary how much we agree, maybe we are family (who knows?). Please please, read this. I eventually would have posted my view of dating on here, but Johnny summed it up accurately.

Also, every summer there's Camp Impact. Please, clear your calenders for the general month of July.

oh, one mroe thing. I think Joe Millionaire is the most HILARIOUS show ever. Super awesome. Well, the show is sort of bad, but I love the concept.

ARg....why isn't my new music working? I changed my cool superhero background music with somthing else.

You know, I've never understood why people never updated their blogs arond every couple of days. Now, I know. You just get lazy.

Back to school, and I'm tired in the morning. Ironically, choir is generating a lot of action. First, my group "qualified" to sing in pop show, but we still lack a song, because Marshall wants us to do another one. SEcond, I thought my UIL solo piece was too easy, and so I asked him for a harder one, and he went crazy, and started sayign things like "you don't know how much time i put into picking out a song" blah blah blah...i probably don't, but still, don't blame me.

Health is going to be one fun class. I had to drop geography which totally stinks it up, but keep in mind that my parents forced me into this grade-grubbing position against my will. I wanted health sophomore year, but noooooo....they think I had a chance for top 10%. Look how wrong they are. Rank 126.

Well, I'm gone for two days, and I forcefully generate two comments. WOO-HOO. That's two more than I expected to have by now. *happy dance*

I can't believe my break is already over. Stupid college apps...oh well...it's second semester, and now I have no worries for the rest of my days...until college.

Wow…how long has it been since I've posted here? Over a week? Wow..I guess I've been busy.

Let's see, what have I been doing that would cause me to not drop a line. Well, the weekend right after school was Winter Retreat 2002. Totally rockin' awesome. What's the best ways for boys to pass the time?? Give them a whole beachload of sand, and a rising tide. We spent hours and hours trying to construct a sand wall to withstand the rising tides. We even included a channel system for drainage. Retarded mother nature outsmarted us.

Came back on tuesday, posted the new song of the week, and immediately went to a LAN party at keith's house. A bad storm came through Houston, and I nearly went insane because the cable was out for 5 hours!! Oh well, electricity still worked, so I kept gaming. No sleep for me.

I saw Victor Hu at the HCC Christmas Candlelight service.

Family Christmas dinner at aunt's house was great. My little cousin is the cutest boy you will ever see in your life. He is one cool kid. For christmas, I got this cool electronic organizer. In no way, shape, or form do I think I'll be organized with this, but it is going to be cool to show up Geo. He's not the only one who can whip out some electronic gizmo, so TAKE THAT!!

The coolest gift: My family got a make it your own funnel-cake kit. Funnel cakes at home are YUMMY!! I like it. Lots of it. Funnel cake = win. It's actually really easy to make. Maybe 10 cents of flour, baking powder, and eggs, and you have a 4 dollar funnel cake.

Next couple of days: college apps. 'nuff said.

Saturday night: Chinese banquet at Fung's kitchen for my the 80th birthday of my grandparents. Grandparents are great people. The banquet had good service, good food, but there wasn't enough. I was still hungry.

Church was good on Sunday.

New year's eve: Finished up my MIT app. I actually had a fun time answerint the essays. Go fig. One was to make up my own personal essay question, and answer it. My topic:

Imagine that unbeknown to you, your whole life had been documented and analyzed by scientists studying human behavior. What kind of research report would they publish??
Same day, big family dinner at Jade Village. Good food. Afterward, everyone went to cousin's house to watch New York ball drop

pure nard update for my New Year's resolution.

Princeton app was annoying. What is the most difficult decision I've ever had to make?? I have no clue. What achievement gives me the most satisfaction?? I don’t' have many achievements to pick from. Oh well. I'm waiting for the rejection letters to come in the mail now.

Thursday and Friday, huge LAN party at cousin Joe's house. 12 computers, 20 guys just clicking mouses and eating. (mouses, right, not mice?? Whatever) I've been sick the past week from a sore throat and coughing, and now I'm having an asthma problem. Aren’t I too old for asthma now? Shouldn’t I have already grown out of it?? This reminds me of how it was growing up, me trying to huff and puff my way into playing sports. Wheezing galore.

Ok, that's a nice two week summary of what's going with me.

….

What the heck, might as well do it. I'm calling roll. Whoever reads this, would you so kindly comment?? Thank you. Roll call begins now.
